Skate | Extreme Playgrounds – The Street Session, Berlin

The T-Mobile Playgrounds have been rocking the republic three times per year since 2007, yet the musical line-up has never been as beat-laden as it is at the Street Session 2009: Next to Deichkind, who are planning a „reloaded“ version of their already infamous live show, and the legendary Puppetmastaz, another institution in German rap music has confirmed their gig on December 6th in Berlin: Blumentopf. Their lyrics are straight to the point, yet their live freestyle parts are some of the best ever performed. Paired with a lot of love for beautiful beats, they've been on a party safari for the last ten years, drenching sold-out clubs and festivals in sweaty, happy faces – and placing a bunch of their releases in the top 10. Their next release is scheduled for spring 2010, so the Street Session will provide them with some live energy for the wintertime.

So, fine sound, but breathtaking stunts as well, as the international elites of street and vert skateboarding and BMX compete for the coveted title of the T-Mobile Playgrounds - and a nice prize purse as well. For the skateboarders, the Street Session is the most important event in their calendar, as it also marks the finals of the World Cup Skateboarding Tour 2009. Current vert rank leader Renton Millar will have to defend his place against Andy Taylor, Jürgen Horrwarth and Pierre-Luc Gagnon. On the street course, 14-year old wonderboy and European Street & Miniramp Champion 2009 Axel Cruysberghs gets a rematch vs. title holder Rodolfo Ramos, Carlos de Andrade and Alex Mizurov.
It's duels between the US and the UK on 20 inches: American Rob Darden won BMX Street in 2008, and he also won this year's Dirt Session. But there's also Marc Webb from Great Britain, winner of the BMX Miniramp competition at this year's Summer Session, and one of Rob's hardest competitors. No time to rest on his 2008 laurels for Chad Kagy (USA) either, because Simon Tabron, everlasting opponent and X-Games star from England, is already warming up.

Tickets are available now, and you really should get yours today, because they're limited – at some point. The tickets for the World Cup Skateboarding Tour 2009 finals, crazy world-class BMXers and three amazing live acts are just 23 Euros plus fee, and available at every ticket shop. And yes, there's a group ticket as well: The 5-Friends-Ticket for 92 Euros plus fee, which costs for four, but admits five. Plus, all tickets get you to the venue safely: Public transport with the BVG is included in all tickets!
